From the highly-anticipated initial drop to the recent termination of contract news, it’s been quite the year for the Yeezy Gap engineered by Balenciaga collaboration. But even with a potential breakup on the horizon, the show must go on. All previously planned launches are still underway. Today, the trio released part II of the hyped collaboration, which celebrates Ye and Demna’s utilitarian approach to fashion along with Gap’s signature take on timeless American style. The lineup continues to reimagine wardrobe essentials, with an emphasis on hoodies and sweatpants in elevated proportions. Think runway-worthy voluminous sleeves on bulbous silhouettes on pants. You’ll also find waterproof backs and utilitarian crossbody bags on the roster. And it won’t be hard to mix and match pieces into your wardrobe, especially since the majority of the offerings are in shades of black, with the exception of a few gray and blue items. When the news was first announced in January, Ye enthusiastically told Vogue, “It is a vision come true to work with Gap and Demna, the creative director of Balenciaga, to make incredible product available to everyone at all times.” There’s no denying Ye’s efforts to push creativity boundaries and democratize fashion, but we have a feeling this collection will fly off of shelves.
